Mar Thimotheus Memorial Orphanage
Mar Thimotheus Memorial Orphanage (MTM) is located in the city Trichur in the state Kerala. The city is located a bit far from the sea on the way to the mountains. The orphanage was established in 1962 by a lady called Mrs. Mooken but is now run by the Eastern Orthodox Church (Syrian Church). Fr. Ignotius is in charge of the home beside his parish work. Today the orphanage cares for about 60 children at age of 4-20 years old with the help of Bharat Aid and the individual sponsors. The aim is to provide a good home for them and also an education that will give them a better chance in life when they become adults. Between 1994-1995 Bharat India-Aid renovated the orphanage, which was in a very bad condition.
